As you all know very well, I have graduated from the University of Michigan. Upon entry to U of M, I wanted to become an M.D., upon exit, I was unsure. 2 years later, I have a new plan for my life: I want to become an entrepreneur and go into public health. With that being said, I don't have many job options with my B.S. in Anthropology-Zoology to fund my new goals. So naturally, I have to go back to school so that I can have an actual job that pays well. I was looking into a couple of programs to become a licensed esthetician, and somehow Everest Institute ended up getting in touch with me. Now, all I wanted to do was know a couple of basic things

-Tuition Rates
-Length of Program
-Accreditation
-Curriculum

I found none of that n the site. What I had to do was fill out a form and a rep contacted me. When they contacted me they still couldn't answer my questions. I had to make an appointment to go in. Firstly, they DO NOT EVEN HAVE an esthetican program, so I'm not sure why it's listed. But I decided to inquire about their other programs, I looked into the medical assistant program and again I could find none of the information that I thought would be readily available. I had to actually go in to get this information. That should have been my first sign that Everest Institute was inadequate. They told me that tuition for Everest was $17,000 for a 9-month program. That FLOORED me. That is equal to 4 semesters at U of M. They're kidding right? No. They were not. They were very serious and very adamant about getting me to come to their institution. Not going to happen. At all. It was so not worth it. They offer the same program at the local community college for about $2,000 or less. It takes a little longer but honestly, you can't master something in 9 months. I just don't think you can. Furthermore, the salary of a Medical Assistant is definitely not worth a $17,000 salary.

I noticed that these universities prey on people who have NO CLUE ABOUT COLLEGE. They market to minorities and people with low-incomes. It's shameful. In essence they are setting them up for a life of slaving to pay back student loans with a job that pays much less than they expected. They would have been better off not going to school at all. The for-profit higher-education schools such as Everest Institute, Kaplan, University of Phoenix, DeVry University, Strayr University, etc. are really bad decisions. They are not worth the money for these reasons:

-You can't transfer your credits. So not only is it not worth the money, but if you wanted to continue your education, most of these credits will not go towards your degree.

-No accreditation. Most of the schools are not accredited.

- They have poor graduation rates

- It's not a quality education

- They are for-profit, not for you. They just want your pell grant and loan money.

- They don't have a good alumni network.

Just go to a real college. You will fare much better.
Do your research and don't make a rash decision about your education.

The Dazzle Cartel... our first OFFICIAL shoot!

I've been busy preparing to launch my business The Dazzle Cartel.

The Dazzle Cartel (TDC) is a full service glamour squad. We have hairstylists, make-up artists, wardrobe stylists, nail artists, graphic artists, and photographers. TDC provides the following services: hair styling, weave installations, make-up artistry, nail art, styling closet, personal shopping, photography, and quality hair extensions and products.

There is sooo much going on right now. Anyway, My business partner/BFF Ci Maria and I did our first photoshoot for the business. We've been doing some press and we don't have any promotional pictures! For the shoot, we wanted to show ourselves in our natural element.

As some of you may or may not know, I've done some modeling before. I've been published in about 5 hair mags and W Magazine. You would think I wouldn't be nervous right? Wrong lol. I retired from modeling and I recently decided 2011 will be my year to come back. For me personally, that's a lot of pressure. These pictures are like a mass representation of the business and of us! We own a glam squad and claim to be like the flyest, most fabulous newcomers in the game. "." PERIOD lol

The nerves came from the new look, not being prepared, and potentially overthinking everything, as I tend to do.

Ci Maria did all of the wardrobe styling for the shoot. The dress and the jewelry are vintage. They are apart of our styling closet. I got the dress from a vintage store in DC. We did the shoot in DC. Our hair was done by TDC Hairstylist and Salon Zero Degrees owner (who is also my cousin) Ms. Mika! Make-up was done by Kris. She has done some work with our other hairstylists before. I think she did a pretty good job on my face. Especially with my foundation. I can't wait to post the pictures !

Since my last post I've had so many blessings and learning experiences! I have grown a lot and my business has grown so much!! We have so much potential and an exciting year ahead of us!! A lot of my friends are doing amazing things as well. I'm just so excited about life right now. It's been 5 years since I graduated from high school and I didn't think this is where my life would lead me. Somewhere in my dreams, but never my reality.

2010 was a serious roller coaster ride. There were highs, there were lows, but when I look back on it, I would ride that ride all over again.

As I start my new year I have to think about what 2010 taught me and all I can say is sometimes you have to step out on faith. I'm not talking about saying you have faith, I'm talking about actually stepping out on faith. I'm talking about walking off the edge and knowing that God is going to put a foundation beneath you to walk on. Stay true to yourself, pray, and meditate. God will work it out.

It's been a year since I updated almost!! Sorry for that guys but I am going to be doing much much better!! God has been doing some amazing things in my life ! :0)

I currently reside in Washington, DC. I opened my own business, The Dazzle Cartel Jewelry and The Dazzle Cartel Studios, which is essentially a glam squad. I hosted my first showcase at Sei lounge in Chinatown DC (www.seirestaurant.com). We will be having them the second Thursday of every month. The next one will be September 9! If you are out in the DMV area come support!!

A lot of my friends have graduated and are doing big things !!

Lil Bit graduated in December from Howard University, she walked in May and is now living in Atlanta! She took a year off because she's about to get married.... and guess who's the Maid of Honor?! Yours truly :-D

The Philanthropist graduated in December also from Purdue University. I didn't make it to his graduation but he still loves me! He's been busy studying for his GMAT... going to get his MBA <3

Yes, Hot Pants and I are still friends. She also graduated from Michigan State University in December... I wasn't able to make it to her graduation either but I love her anyway and I'm so proud! She's grown up so much.. <3 her

The Athlete graduated from Michigan State University this May with a degree in Mechanical Engineering!! The only black person in his degree program and he now plays for the Miami Dolphins.

Ok so I finally walked across the stage.. Graduation day was May 2. There were 2 graduations, the one that comprised of everyone from all of the undergraduate colleges and the Black Celebratory program. I have pix!!

I got my Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Anthropology (yay me!) Well.. I am getting my degree next month.. I have one more class to complete.

Future plans... I plan on getting a dual degree, an MD/MPH. I have yet to take my MCAT and I have 2 more classes to fulfill my prereqs for medical school. But, I am starting my public health degree this fall.

Sooo before reading this blog.. read this article. Per Henrik Zahl is the scientist behind this study that basically said:

--frequent mammograms are unnecessary because many tumors will regress on their own without treatment
--breast/prostate cancer isn't deadly

While this article doesn't say anything about blacks/african-americans (whichever you prefer)... If this foolishness disguised as science and sense gets around, its implications could possibly have devastating effects on our community. If anybody knows about the health disparities that exist with breast cancer alone.. you know that black women are diagnosed less with breast cancer yet have the highest mortality rate... If we get the disease we are less likely to last 5 years.. Why?

The main reasons are lack of early detection and disparities in treatment

Tell all the thousands of black women that have died from breast cancer that bullshit... Its supposed to go away on its on. Oh wait.. you can't.... because they are fucking D E A D. So you... Per-Henrik Zahl.. can go jump off a bridge with cement slippers on. I'm mad so I have nothing else to say.

It's been a minute since I posted... I mean.. it's been so long... We even got a black president. LOL Craziness. I actually had a post that I started but I never finished... Give me a break though... it was midterm season.. and studying, socializing, and running an org leaves little time for blogging.. sadness I know.

It really annoyed me when people said... "I did" or "I'm doing my part by voting" No. Get somebody else out there to vote.. I know I was out there grinding in extreme heat AND rain. That's why my President is Black.. and so is yours =D lol.

Halloween was a little uh.. interesting... I had my wings on upside down for half the night lol... But for some reason only this camera phone pic is showing up *shrug*

The Saturday before elections.. I went to this "My President is Black" Party.. well really it was just the Ultimate Black Party but... i like the way that sounded better... I wouldn't have gone but we got a party bus for my bff's bf b-day

Just some stuff I can't live without.. at the moment..

So.. I love this scrub!! Makes your hands and feet feel all soft. It goes for $45 normally but.. you can talk a deal with the people at the mall (yes I stop and try the products at the booths, it was SO worth it!) When your skin feels good... people notice! I also bought the facial wash, the mud mask,the body butter, and the nail buffer kit... I could have done without the facial wash though. The mud mask, body butter, and nail buffer kit are great as well. The Princess has the bath soaps and she loves them. Real talk... this ish is great!!

So.. yes this comes from another one of those carts in the mall... What can I say.. I'm a sucker for new products. This really should be higher up on the list... like #2 LOL.. These flat-irons are the best flat-irons I have ever tried. I let my cousins use them on this chick's hair.. and please believe that ish was SO nappy... Looked like silk.. I finally took my weave out (yes I have hair.. and it's pretty long too).. I don't have chemicals in my hair because my hair can't really handle it.... After using these flat-irons my hair was sooo bouncy... I went to a cabaret... the club... the gym... and my hair is STILL straight. It probably has something to do with the spray I use but... my hair has never been this straight to start with. Fuck a Chi, H2Pro.. or any of them other flat-irons.. I have had them all... this is IT.

Sidekick 08... I'm a kick addict... It's not the most advanced phone... may seem a little juvenile to some, but I freaking LOVE my kick. I've had other phones..like the blackberry... but this is my 3rd sidekick and they kinda got it right.. I drop this thing on the daily.. hasn't broken yet... sidepanels and ish don't fall out like it used to... Plus.. it has my e-mail and instant messaging and a wide QWERTY keypad.. I was thinkin bout the G1... but Imma stay loyal to my sidekick... for now.

This bracelet.. I bought this at Claire's like 3 years ago... It comes from the Mariah Carey line of jewelry.. which I don't even know if it is still in existence or not. But it was only $8 and to this day I still wear it, frequently... I wore it to our black homecoming and pretty much everywhere else.

I love this lip gloss from e.l.f. I lose lip gloss a lot.. it's cheap.. but a high quality product. They also have a lot of other cheap stuff there like make-up brushes for $1.00. You get the same brush at MAC for $38. They do the same job. Just as good.. but I digress.

So if you are like me and just starting to experiment with make-up.. you can't go wrong with this.. eyeshadow.. lip gloss.. blush.. brushes.. the works.. $48. That's it. It really doesn't get any better. I got it from Sephora and it's available on-line and in stores

All imma say is: Green Tea Latte. Try it. I've been a fiend for 2 years and counting lol

Pashmina scarves. I love them. Apparently people wear them in all kinds of weird colors and patterns now.. not my style.. but whatever floats your boat.. you can't go wrong with it

Soooo this is my new shit of course. I mean honestly... who couldn't wait to see the fab/fly older black women in drama.. fab shit.. etc. etc. etc. Anyway.. so it's about the 3rd episode right now and I'll tell u my breakdown of the women.

Mrs. Lisa Wu Hartwell. She is my favorite because she's smart and she's about her paper. Not only did she get this rich ass mofo to marry her after 1.5 months, but she is not just depending on him for money. She's making her own. I love it. She also very eloquently explained why she embraces her asian and black heritage. Plus she and her husband appear to have a very loving relationship which is great. They are my favorite couple also. She's also low-key fly. It fits her, because she seems to be a tomboy.

Kim is hands down the FLYEST of all the housewives. Period. Now... this "I'm 29" bullshit has got to stop. I hope she lying about her age cuz she is not a good-looking 29 year-old. She need to re-think her skincare regimen cuz it is NOT working for her. I thought she was about 39.... Sidenote: I want her not to be tryna force her daughters into music... they ain't got it.

I couldn't stand NeNe when this show first came on... I'm like ugh... this rhatta.. but NeNe is real as hell and she comes from the hood. I could see me laughing at her daily... HU Homecoming

Soooo as most of the world knows... Howard University's Homecoming was last week... and of course ya girl was in the building... as I have been for the past 3. I didn't actually go to any of the activities because I couldn't get there until Friday night.. I had a physiology exam on Friday afternoon (ain't that a bitch). But... I stayed until Tuesday because I missed my flight, but it wasn't a big deal... I was on fall study break.

As many of u may or may not know... 2 of my very best friends go to Howard University, Lil' Bit and The Princess ... that's why I'm always in D.C.. I also have a lot of other friends from my e-mail group... shout-out to Chellz at Citizen Du Monde.

I hear that this homecoming was one of THEE WACKEST in terms of events... now... I only went to the stepshow and must I say... that was some pure BULLSHIT. However, the Alphas were great *drool* and Omega Psi Phi Alpha Chapter FINALLY stepped... did a great job too! Shoutout to the Deuce Spring 08!! But the Fashion Show was great apparently.

Nehoo... I partied.. and I drank... and drank and I partied... and partied.. and drank... and then partied some more. I was pretty intoxicated the entire time

I was good this year in terms of behavior...In a nutshell... my HU homecoming went like this:
Friday-VIP @ Love nightclub. Yes this was the Diddy party.. no I didn't see that nigga because he wanted $80 on top of all the money we dropped to get in that bitch to party on his floor. I'm sorry... u got me fucked up. The Princess and one of the other girls I came with ended up leaving the club.. but it was 6 of us so I was good.

The Princess and I got into a car accident... then after the stepshow I fell out with Lil Bit (which was b4 the club)... I guess she had me confused with one of them docile bitches she hangs with... Idk what was going on with her... she and I have never really gotten into it previously.. but that night.. she was pushing it. So sadly.. she will be in none of the pix :-(.. Then we get to Fur and these muthafuckas tell us we ain't have no table... when clearly we bought two tables.. but it was cool...we ended up getting our booth... we popped a couple bottles and everything was alright... for the most part. After the club.. we took a cab home.... and our cab driver was F.I.N.E.. he was also a foreigner (DC has a lot of those).. Ethiopian to be exact.. of course I had to pull the digits.. and it turns out he's on his way to becoming a Radiologist.. and he has an Infiniti.. and.. he's fine. LOL.. We kicked it with David Banner until P.S. started freakin out and yelling he was "politically active" LOL. Hoodrat Hierarchy

Just wanted to share with the world what my roommate and her friends came up with and what I added to it.

@ the top we have the Hood Rhatta- or just Rhatta for short- hood
rhattas keep themselves up.. Macy's is their fav store cuz it got all
the labels in one place, Roc-a-wear, baby phat, etc. They don't care
what label it is long as they got it on. Hair stay done. may have 2 or
more colors in their hair. Nails done etc. Etc. Their man is usually a
baller if they have one, and they r in a real college. They are what u
would think of as boughetto.. They love all things ghetto. They have no
kids. They might "model" on the side.

Next we have ratadoo- the most important distinction between a ratadoo
and a rhatta is that a ratadoo has children (no more than 2)and a rhatta
does not. Also.. Ratadoos are in the more trade and vocational schools
like cosmetology, medical billing, LPN, etc. Etc.

Then we have the hoodie rat. Now hoodie rat got her GED maybe a high
school diploma.. Couple kids.. Couple baby daddies but she keep herself
together.. As together as a hoodie rat can get... think of a bust it
baby.. Cuz u know her boyfriend who has not fathered her 4 kids is a po'
roller.. But she still sleeping with the other baby daddys. She might
braid her in the basement.. Work @ mcdonalds.. Etc. Etc... and she is
rainbow and dots fresh. She keep her hair matchin her outfits... its cute.. for a hoodie rat.

Then we come to the street rat.. Now the street rat is just out here...
her job consists of selling her bridge card and makin sure the various
checks for her kids stay comin thru. She and all the chirrens live wit
about 7 other ppl. She just fucking and suckin whoeva..her cousin
boyfriend.. Baby daddy best friend.. Everybody is fair game and she looks like it

Then @ the bottom of the hoodrat hierarchy is the sewer rat. Now the
sewer rat was just added this weekend becuz me & my bff from howard
could not describe the utter fugglemuffiness characteristic of that
chick from "its so cold in the D" so we decided that she is the epitome
of the sewer rat

I'm not one really interested in politics like other people are. However, when there is an issue important to me, I do go out and try to get it passed. When I was a junior in high school, I wanted the millage in my city to pass, started a group for that. It passed. When I was a freshman in college.. proposition 2 came up, which is similar to prop 209 in California that ended affirmative action. I rallied for that, especially at my school and in the neighborhoods (University of Michigan. We lost that battle. Now, the presidential elections... I've been canvassing neighborhoods, and standing on random corners trying to get people to vote.

This election is the most important ones in our lifetime, whichever the outcome.

I went to the Jay-Z concert on Saturday that the Barack Obama campaign put on to get people registered to vote. It was AWESOME by the way,(more on that later) but Jay-Z said something that made me realize how much more important this is. He said now, he really feels like you can grow up to be anything that you wanted to be. That sounds cliche', but this is coming from one of the richest and most influential black men in this country and possibly the world. Even HE didn't believe that before now. This election does not only affect us, it is affecting black people across the world. Africa and its diaspora.

After experiencing all the racist bullshit that I've experienced these past 4 years at my university, having the Obama campaign experience, listening to Obama speak, listening to others speak about Obama, taking two classes on race this semester (great time huh) and watching this video.. I sat and I cried... well got teary-eyed.. and that says a lot because I am NOT emotional. But.. I think about my great-grandma, grandma, mom, and me and just realize how far we have come as a people. We aren't there yet.. but we are making progress.

I just got back from Atlanta and now I'm sick. I went down there for Alternative Spring Break.... where you do community service instead of layin on the beach.. but don't get it twisted.. I still got my party on! I used to hate Atlanta... but now.. I think I kinda like it

Hey people!!

Sorry I have been MIA... but the school grind has been VICIOUS. Running organizations... keeping up with classes... it's a bit overwhelming... Pre-med @ Michigan is not a joke.. But anyway, I only have 1 final left.. and it's Spanish.. and since I don't take that seriously.. here I am lol.

Every year for New Year's, I either, 1.) throw a party or go to one of my friends houses and party or 2.) Go to a hotel party... but THIS YEAR... I can go to things 21+ even tho I won't be 21 until Feb. 14 2008 (WOO! LOL) Sooo I'm going to get my grown and sexy on this New Year's Eve... and I refuse to mix with the general population of Detroit at the club... State Theatre... Good Life Lounge... Plan B... Prive... you won't catch Mz. Coko there so don't even think about it.

I will be bringing the flyness to 2008 and I want to wear a dress but unfortunately it is FREEZING here (We got 10 inches on Sunday) and I need something that covers me from the neck to the ankle LOL. So I went on a search for some fly coats that hit the ankle... I have a couple of long coats but... I don't want a bubble coat and I definitely don't want a grandma coat... Something simple and not black lol. I saved some coats that I thought were cute or... ok.. not too many.. it won't be an overdose.

iFly Review: Why Did I Get Married?

Let me just start off by saying I loved this film. First off, let me say that yes, this is Tyler Perry's best movie to date. Which is not setting the bar very high. Was it romantic? Yes. Was it comedy? Hell yes.

As we all know, Tyler Perry isn't trying to win Academy Awards and such by being extremely deep or thought provoking. He's not Spike Lee, ain't trying to be Spike Lee. I think he just likes to tell our stories. I think he receives a lot of criticism for it.... but perhaps it could be because... he's one of the only people making black movies. He has his style and that's all there is to it. It really irritates me when people overanalyze everything. I'm not a critic... I went to enjoy the movie... and I did.

Just a short background on the movie. The movie is about 4 married couple who met in college and are going on a retreat to work on their marriages. Believe me when I tell you, the relationships need work. Anyway, they get there... they find out all types of secrets about each other(the climax of the film)... Now... some of these secrets are like soooo wild that I couldn't even guess them. I am usually pretty good about guessing the rest of the movie. Who's going to end up dead, who's getting a divorce, who is sleeping with whom, what she did, etc., etc. Then they all go home to sort out their lives.

I had no complaints up until the climax of the movie. It was great. The movie could have ended right there, and I would have been happy... maybe a tad bit lost lol... but happy still. However, it was drawn out a little. I guess Tyler Perry felt a need to tie up every single loose end. In a sense, I felt the movie was anti-climatic. I'm being very vague because I don't want to give any details... I feel like if I would have known anything about the movie before I went (I didn't), I may not have enjoyed it as much. But, there are a lot of WTF moments in the movie, most provided by Mike (Richard T. Jones). I can pretty much guarantee you that you are going to hate him for the way he treats his wife Sheila (Jill Scott). There is also never a dull moment, especially with Angela (Tasha Smith) neck-rolling and hooting and hollering throughout the movie. She pretty much played the same role she played in Daddy's Little Girls except she wasn't the baby mama this time, she was the wife. There is a lot of guesswork as to what is going on with Gavin (Malik Yoba) and Patricia (Janet Jackson), but it is all made very clear (maybe too clear) in the end.

Let me just tell you why I loved the movie. 1.) It shows positive images of black people. There are all types of black professionals in here, pediatricians, lawyers, business owners, stock brokers, writers, and not a drug dealer in sight. I don't know about you, but that makes me happy. 2.) It was hilarious. It could be that since Tyler Perry started out with plays that he keeps the punch lines and shocking moments rolling in. 3.) Jill Scott was amazing. 4.) Marcus's (Michael J. White) body!!! Woo! I would pay $7.50 to see that again.... That man is super buff. 5.) The fabulous fur coats the ladies were rocking. I'm surprised PETA didn't protest this movie... There are probably 40 dead animals lying around somewhere... 6.) It was real. A lot of people fault Tyler Perry for perpetuating stereotypes, but I don't think he does that at all... well occasionally maybe. I think that he portrays what is really going on in our community. He does have Angela acting all super ghetto in the movie, and she is a salon owner ("stereotypical"), but, she also designed her own hair products because she was a chemist. That's real to me. It wasn't like.. Soul Plane or The Wash, now THOSE are terrible movies. 7.) The focus was not on being black, but on the people. I hate black movies that are always talking about black this, black that.. I mean we get it! The whole cast is black, the audience is black... you don't have to keep reminding me.

A lot of the reviews I read said married people would enjoy it most, I agree. But I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I encourage you all to go see it. It exceeded my expectations. It was definitely a stress reliever after a week of no sleep, Spanish, Physics, and Biochem exams. I'll throw a couple of pics at you of the cast from the premiere and doing promos. Malik Yoba did a great job too.

Let me just say how freaking FLY and Fabulous Jill and Janet look. My goodness.

Ms. Winfrey made $260 million this year. She ranks #1 in the web and on TV. Her press rank is a 7. Oprah is a fly 54 might I add... but I guess you have no choice but to be fly when you're a billionaire eh?

#2 is Tiger Woods

Tiger brought in $100 million... He ranks 4th in pay amongst celebrities, 16 in web, 3 in Press and TV. He is the first athlete (no matter what race) in HISTORY to make $100 million in one year. He earned it with his Nike deal, by demanding $3 million per game, and he signed a new deal with Gillete. Go 'head Tiger.

OOOOOOOOkkkkkkkkk.... so... Fashion week was lastweek and I'm hitting you with some of the pieces from all the black designer's spring 2008 collections. This is a serious overdose so get READY.

First up we have Tracy Reese's collection.

Hello folks,

I've been back since Sunday but to be honest... I haven't felt like blogging... I haven't felt like doing anything actually... I am completely exhausted. Glad you guys showed me love... and hate (which i find amusing btw)..

Sint Maarten was beautiful... I had a blast and the people are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice. I also have 6 more necklaces, 3 pairs of earrings, and 8 bracelets in my car (literally i counted), and some more stuff at my other apartment.. Yes.. I have a problem... I'm working on it tho! 1. I got stung in my mouth by a bee! While I was driving down Telegraph road... with a car full of people... (Telegraph is an extremely busy street.. we almost died)

So... I have had it up to *raises hand as high as it will go* HERE with all this negativity about my generation of black people.... Like we aren't doing anything with our lives but making it rain, making babies, blowing our money on clothes, killing each other, dropping out of school, going to jail, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.... While I do agree, that is going on... that's not ALL that's going on... I mean... sure I can look up half of the people in my family in OTIS.. But that is only half of my reality... that's not all that I know I'm just starting to really realize that we as a people don't show each other enough love... We are quick to criticize and bring each other down but hesitant to bring each other up. I admit, I am a part of this problem... I bring you the Detroit Mess... and it's entertaining... but I just wanted to take this blog in a different direction today and let you know about the young black folks in my world

First and foremost, we love our churches and we love the Lord,

YES, our young women graduate from high school

And so do our young black men

And we are PROUD of each other

Because it is a beautiful thing!

And we do go on to graduate from college

and we make strong bonds along the way,

and even rivals respect each other.

And we still march for what we believe in,

and we are not apathetic about politics.

AND we STILL believe in the sanctity of marriage,

and we still love our children,

and our kids want to learn about other things than MTV and BET,

and we do go to prom CLASSY,

and our young men are superb athletes,

and so are our young women,

and our young ladies win beauty pageants,

and we are fierce dancers,

not just hip-hop dancers either,

We also ENJOY studying,

and we still celebrate our children,

because our children are still innocent,

and just so cute!

And our youth do go to summer camp,

And everybody's favorite music is not rap,

and we like to dance when there is no music,

and sometimes we just do silly things like:

dance with random people on the sidewalk,

do handstands in the middle of Time Square,

do chin-ups on the Subway

or slide down the poles,

try on the girdle panties at Meijer

EAT CANDY!!

And sometimes we just like to have fun!

and go to football games,

and play Twister,

and compete on obstacle courses

and we have fun doing unconventional things like skydiving,

and iceskating,

and snorkel in the ocean

and go on safari's in Africa.

And we can have white friends without us acting white or them acting black,

because we respect other cultures,

because we come from other cultures.

But we would never deny our black family.

We are united,

and we make statements,

and we come in all shades,

and we come in all shapes,

and we come in all sizes,

and WE ARE BEAUTIFUL! :o)

1. I freak out when I get my ends clipped. I mean.. I have almost been brought to tears! I am just real particular about my hair.. I got a short weave like last week(my mama hated it) and everybody was like "OMG you cut your hair" I'm like.. Of course not.. Just wanted to see what it looked like.. And it got mostly good reviews.. But yeah.. I will hurt somebody about my hair..

2. I am a "model". I was in the September 2006 issue of W Magazine with Kate moss.. I might post some pix from that shoot one day.. If you wanna see them.. I am mostly a hair model.. But I "retired" from doing actual hair shows even though that's how I got discovered.. If you wanna call it that.. I still do hair mags tho.. I don't really take modeling seriously.. My cousin models.. But she's conventional.. She fits the mold.. Tall and thin.. I don't.. I would be a plus-sized model.. And I don't really have the time or drive to be breaking down barriers in the fashion world when I'm trying to break them down in the medical field.. I'm just saying..

3. I am a clubhead. I'm finally starting to slow down.. But as soon as I turned 18 I started hitting the club 2-4 times per week. Mostly 4.. This is random because I can't even think of a time when I went out beforehand.. Not to party anyway. My friends would try to get me to lie to my mom and say I was spending the night at their house but I would lie to them like "my mama said I can't spend the night" I was not a sneaky kid at all.

4. I am shy.. You wouldn't think so with all the friends I have but.. I'm really very shy.. Unless you piss me off.. I'm not shy about going off on nobody

5. I have an anger problem. I have finally come to terms with it. The smallest thing can irritate me soooo much. People sniffling even gets on my nerves! I'm working on it though.

6. My grandmother is Japanese. My father's mother.. But my mama told me I bet not bring a biracial child in Her house! Lmao.. I said "you can talk.. What about me?" she said "your daddy was black".. My grandma was Japanese.. Granddad was half black and white.. My daddy had bone straight hair like an Asian until the day he died.. Didn't look black.. I don't look mixed to myself but.. A lot of people can tell I have Asian in me.. Don't know how.. But anyway.. She don't really gotta worry about it cuz I am generally only attracted to black men.

7. I am my mother.. Everybody tells me I act just like her.. Scary.. She said when we argue she feels like she is arguing with herself.

8. I want a bunch of babies.. But I don't like having a boyfriend.. The whole getting to know you and you trying to limit my freedom is for the birds.. This is an entire post by itself.. I will continue later..

The Other Day, a friend of mine came to my dorm room just to chat
while
her laundry was drying. As we were chatting, two young freshmen came
by. One
of the boys wanted to "talk" to my friend (as in date). She asked him
how
old they were, and both of the boys replied 18. My friend and I both
laughed
hysterically because we are both 22 years old. After my friend left,
the
young men were still hanging around and one wanted to know how he
could
gain her interest.

The first thing I told him to do was to pull up his pants. He asked
why,
then said he like saggin' his pants. I told him to come over to my
computer and spell the word saggin'. Then I told him to write the word
saggin'
backwards.

S-A-G-G-I-N

N-I-G-G-A-S

I told him the origin of that look was from prison. The reason their
pants looked like that was because they were not allowed to have belts
because
prisoners were likely to try to commit suicide. And also if their
pants
were saggin under their butts that meant the man was available for
sex!!!!

We as young black people have to be the ones to effect change. We are
dying. The media has made a mockery of the Black American. Even our
brothers and sisters from Africa don't take us seriously. Something as
simple as pulling up your pants and standing with your head high could
make the biggest difference in the world's perception of us. It is time
to do
right by ourselves. We need to love and embrace each other. No one is
going to do it for us.

It all comes down to perception. What people perceive is what is
reality
to them. We have to change not only the media's perception of us, but
we
need to change our perception of ourselves. Remember all eyes are on
you
Black Man. All eyes are on you Black Woman. All eyes are on you Black
Child.
People are waiting for us to mess up. We have let not only the media,
but the government and the world taint the pure essence of us. They
have
stripped our culture down to the point where we only believe we can
become rappers and athletes. We are so much more.

To all my black men:

It's time to stand up. There are billions of Black Women who want to
do
nothing more than worship the ground that you walk on. We are so in
love
with your potential. We want to have your back, we want to love,
support
and cherish every ounce of your being. But with that you have to show
that you are willing to be the head of our households. You have to
prove
yourselves worthy of our submission. We need you to be hard
working...Not a hustler. We need you to seek higher education, to seek
spirituality. We
need you to stand! And trust us; we will have your back. We know that
it
gets hard, we know you get weary. Trust and believe that there is
nothing that a Black Woman and a Black Man can't handle with God on
their sides.

To all my Black Women:

It is also time for us to stand up. It is time for us to stop using
our
bodies as our primary form of communication. It is time to be that
virtuous woman that Proverbs spoke of. We cannot sit by the wayside
while our men
are dying by the masses. We are the epitome of Black Love. It starts
within us. We need to speak with conviction to let not only our Black
Men know,
but the world know that we are the Mothers of this world. We are so
powerful. We are so beautiful. We need to love and embrace every
blessing God has given us physically, emotionally and spiritually.

For all My Black Children:

We need to love them. We need to teach them. We need to stand up for
them.
We need to protect them. We need to show them that there are no "get
rich quick" schemes. We need to tell them that they WILL die trying if
they
submit to a life of crime and deceit. We need to teach our children
that
no one will love them the way we can. And being a basketball player, a
rapper, or a drug dealer is not reality. It's not realistic and only a
small
percentage of people ever make it as a rapper or professional athlete.
We need to teach our children that we can be more than rappers and
athletes.

We can be the owners of these sports teams; we can be the CEO's of our
fortune 500 companies. We need to believe in literacy. I am almost
certain if we were to look back to the 1930's and 40's, the literacy
rates for
Black American Children are probably still the same.

Ok... so I know I been ghost... but 2 jobs, social life, friends, parties, social gatherings, and boos (well now one boo) has been keeping me extra busy... and extra tired. I have a lot to blog about but not a lot of time... but nehoot.. My girl Kelly's ( I love Destiny's Child.. in all forms) album came out today... and as I sit here at my second job doing not too much of anything... I decided to listen to the whole thing.. (thanks YBF) If u want to listen to the album click here.. and then I decided to review it... but first... let's take a look at the flyness that is Ms. Kelly

Like This ft. Eve- I love like this... it's a club banger and I'm a club head... I'm sure u all have heard it and can judge for yourself

Comeback- This song is another upbeat, club-type song... Basically she's talkin about how she's the shii in the bedroom and got that comeback punanny... she'll make u fall in love wit it, go home and tell ya mama, then come back to it. I like this.. I'm sure it is going to be one of the those female anthems.... and is going to have quite a few girls changing their MySpace headings to "I got that comeback".

Ghetto ft. Snoop Dogg- This song is about how she want a ghetto nigga... guy.. man.. whatever... I'm sorry... I don't want no ghetto man so hey... whatever is your cup of tea Kelly.. This song is ok... I mean.. the beat is good but I'm not a fan of Snoop '07... and the high pitch slow melody is just not my cup of tea either... But I didn't have to skip the song.

Work- Kelly obviously feels like she is top-notch in the bedroom. She wants to "see you work" and "you better leave a good impression before you hit the door"... Basically fellas u get one chance to prove yourself in the bedroom so u betta work... I FEEL THAT lol.. The beat is fast.. The singing is ok... it's that "fast talk singy" type stuff that Ciara does... Her vocals kinda remind me of Amerie (that strained yelling type) on this one.. just not as loud.

Flashback- Kelly sees old flame and wishes she was back with him.... She's having flashbacks... This beat.. is not your average beat... it sounds like something Timbaland would produce.. The vocals are different too... I like it. It's a different sound but I like it... vocally... its basic... but it works, I could do this as a single... The lyrics are real.. some stuff u know that goes thru ya head when u see your ex.

Every Thought is You- Basically she can't get him off the brain...she's addicted.. She steps it up a little bit vocally.. It's that average song on the R&B cd.. u know the one u start listening to cuz u going thru it at the time.. Nice beat. Reminds me of 90's R&B. 90's R&B was a good look.

The Show ft. Tank- They talking about somebody performing or something.. I dont know.. I mean the song str8... I like Tank's opening verse... but I get bored listening to it I dunno.. maybe its just me

Still In Love With My Ex- This is probably the best song on here because she steps it up 2 notches vocally... and she feels it... you can tell she feels it. She's talking about how she had the perfect man but couldn't marry him because she was still in love with her ex. This gives me DC flashbacks.. I loves it. Simple song but because she feels it... I feel it.

Love- She is trying to prove she can sing on this song.. but I don't know what it's about... I'm pretty sure this will be someone's favorite song but it ain't mine... kinda bores me. Moving on.

Better Without You-Well you know it ain't about Beyonce... lol... neway... it's a real slow moving song... the notes are real low.... the beat is real slow... don't drive with this song on ladies and gentleman... u will fall asleep and probably die. The way its sang... it sounds like a mantra that u have to keep telling urself.. i'm better without you. better without you. better without you. happy without you. etc. etc. etc.

This is Love- The beat is like an orchestra... string guitar chords come in... then some audible vocals. Not an R&B song in my opinion. I don't really feel it... it doesn't feel right on this part of the CD... I most likely will skip this song. This sounds like a last minute track... U can tell she is not in love... I'll tell u that. This is her version of Beyonce's Flaws and all... I guess.. and I hate that song 2. sue me.

Bottom Line.. it's a solid album.... I'll give it a 3.5/5... if I had money I might buy it.. who knows. lol. It was better than I expected though. She needs to get Ne-Yo to write her a song or something... ( I love Ne-Yo... even though he has a face for radio)

Well... I haven't been feeling like posting lately... My personal life has been f-ed up to the point where I don't want to talk about it... ANYWAY... One of my dearest friends sent this to my e-mail.. So I figured I would share it...

What Happens when we move in fear?

Failure leads to a bitter harvest. You do not need to be wealthy.
But the harvest for not fully manifesting and birthing the dream that God has
planted in you is not simply lack of wealth. It is bitterness and anger for your
entire life. That is the curse you afflict yourself with when you allow fear to
stop you from throwing yourself into a dilemma and letting God pull you out. If
you don’t take risks, you leave God out of the picture. Until there is
uncertainty in your life, you will not see God. It is possible to budget God out
of your life entirely, to play it so safe that God is never called to intervene
in your affairs. When that happens, you will fail to birth the purpose that God
had in mind for you. If you fail to birth, you will live in anger.
That is no way to live. When you allow fear to stunt the potential God placed
in you, you will create your own Hell. You will lash out at others who are
taking giant steps in your small world. You will start acting like a victim when
you could have been a victor. That’s why those who cannot be creators become
critics: they need to break down those who have achieved what they could not so
they can make themselves feel less impotent. Your greatest enemies are those to
whom you are a reminder of what they could have been. When you are successful,
you will make enemies, because you will serve as a constant sting to the pride
of those who could not achieve what you have achieved. No one wants a reminder

Missing persons reports about people of color, particularly young women and children, don't receive nearly the amount of coverage in traditional media as they should. As a part of the blogosphere, we want to do our part to help. If you feel so inclined, please do the same by posting this young woman's photo. Someone might see the photo and be able to provide valuable information to the police. It takes a village...

Here's the news account of what happened:

The family of a woman who disappeared from a Fort Lauderdale nightclub pleaded for the public to come forward with leads.

In quiet, grief-stricken voices, family members of a girl missing since last weekend's Memorial Day celebrations made a public plea for any information regarding her whereabouts.

Stepha Henry, 22, was last seen partying at Peppers Cafe, located on 3828 N. University Dr. in Fort Lauderdale, at 1 a.m. May 29.

Steve and Sylvia Henry flew down this week from their home in New York to help search for their child.

''I'm going to stay in Florida until I find my daughter,'' Sylvia Henry said Wednesday, speaking at Miami-Dade police headquarters.

As Miami-Dade homicide detectives joined the search, police said they would work around the clock to find her.

Henry, a recent graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, flew down from New York for Memorial Day weekend to celebrate her sister's 16th birthday. The Henry sisters had been staying with their aunt and cousin in Miami Gardens for the weekend and planned to fly home May 29.

The night before she disappeared, Henry told her family she was getting a ride to Peppers from a friend. Her sister stayed home.

A videotape taken by a promotional group at Peppers shows Henry at the club.

But she never made it home.

Calls placed to Henry's cell phone went straight to her voice mail. The petite woman was last seen wearing a black dress with a white tank top underneath and brown heels. She was carrying a brown clutch purse. Henry, who has long bronze hair, is 5'2'' and 110 pounds.

''It's been very hard. She is not the kind of girl to run off. If anyone has seen her, I am asking that you please come forward,'' Henry's mother said Wednesday.

Emily Chin's family owns Peppers Cafe.

A vigil was held at Henry's college campus in New York Wednesday, the school said in a news release.

Miami-Dade Detective Roy Rutland said police are looking for information regarding the driver of a dark-colored four-door Acura Integra, who picked Henry up at her aunt's house.

So my younger brother graduated from high school Sunday. He was the first male in the family in 20 years (this is from my great-grandma on down... she has 50 -no exaggeration- grandkids and about 100 great-grandkids..) and the first great-grandson to graduate from high school. So needless to say.. the family is proud. He wasn't excited though... He said he'll get excited when he graduates from high school. My mama was so happy she was glowing... Who would have thought.. a teenage mom from the ghetto (the for-real ghetto).. both kids graduating from high school and going to college on full scholarships. So I'm proud of her and I'm proud of him!!

Hogzilla is being made into a horror movie. But the sequel may be even bigger: Meet Monster Pig. An 11-year-old boy used a pistol to kill a wild hog his father says weighed a staggering 1,051 pounds and measured 9 feet 4, from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail. Think hams as big as car tires.

If the claims are accurate, Jamison Stone's trophy boar would be bigger than Hogzilla, the famed wild hog that grew to seemingly mythical proportions after being killed in south Georgia in 2004.

Hogzilla originally was thought to weigh 1,000 pounds and measure 12 feet long. National Geographic experts who unearthed its remains believe the animal actually weighed about 800 pounds and was 8 feet long.

Regardless of the comparison, Jamison is reveling in the attention over his pig.

"It feels really good," Jamison said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "It's a good accomplishment. I probably won't ever kill anything else that big."

Jamison, who killed his first deer at age 5, was hunting with father Mike Stone and two guides in east Alabama on May 3 when he bagged Monster Pig. He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50-caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.

Through it all, there was the fear that the animal would turn and charge them, as wild boars have a reputation for doing.

"I was a little bit scared, a little bit excited," said Jamison, who lives in Pickensville on the Mississippi border. He just finished the sixth grade on the honor roll at Christian Heritage Academy, a small, private school.

His father said that, just to be extra safe, he and the guides had high-powered rifles aimed and ready to fire in case the beast, with 5-inch tusks, decided to charge.

With the animal finally dead in a creek bed on the 2,500-acre Lost Creek Plantation, a commercial hunting preserve in Delta, trees had to be cut down and a backhoe brought in to bring Jamison's prize out of the woods.

It was hauled on a truck to the Clay County Farmers Exchange in Lineville, where Jeff Kinder said they used his scale, recently calibrated, to weigh the hog.

Kinder's scale measures only to the nearest 10, but Mike Stone said it balanced one notch past the 1,050-pound mark.

"It probably weighed 1,060 pounds. We were just afraid to change it once the story was out," he said.

The hog's head is being mounted by Jerry Cunningham of Jerry's Taxidermy. Cunningham said the animal measured 54 inches around the head, 74 inches around the shoulders and 11 inches from the eyes to the end of its snout.

"It's huge," he said. "It's just the biggest thing I've ever seen."

Mike Stone is having sausage made from the rest of the animal. "We'll probably get 500 to 700 pounds," he said.

Jamison, meanwhile, has been offered a small part in "The Legend of Hogzilla," a small-time horror flick based on the tale of the Georgia boar. The movie is holding casting calls with plans to begin filming in Georgia.

Jamison is enjoying the newfound celebrity generated by the hog hunt, but he said he prefers hunting pheasants to monster pigs: "They are a little less dangerous."

I don't know if any of you have ever been to Michigan but... our roads suck... they are shitty.. Not only in Detroit... but all over Michigan... there are potholes big enough for my car to fit in (not like my car is that big) and I ruined my first car because of some potholes.

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania — A sperm donor who helped a lesbian couple conceive two children is liable for child support under a state appellate court ruling that a legal expert believes might be the first of its kind in the U.S.

A Superior Court panel last week ordered a Dauphin County judge to establish how much Carl L. Frampton Jr. would have to pay to the birth mother of the 8-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl.

"I'm unaware of any other state appellate court that has found that a child has, simultaneously, three adults who are financially obligated to the child's support and are also entitled to visitation," said New York Law School professor Arthur S. Leonard, an expert on sexuality and the law.

But Frampton, 60, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, died suddenly of a stroke in March, leaving lawyers involved in the case with different theories about how his death may affect the precedent-setting case.

Jodilynn Jacob, 33, and Jennifer Lee Shultz-Jacob, 48, moved in together as a couple in 1996, and were granted a civil-union license in Vermont in 2002. In addition to conceiving the two children with the help of Frampton — a longtime friend of Shultz-Jacob's — Jacob also adopted her brother's two older children, now 12 and 13

But the women's relationship fell apart, and Jacob and the children moved out of their Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, home in February 2006.

Shortly afterward, a court awarded her about $1,000 a month in support from Shultz-Jacob. Shultz-Jacob later lost an effort to have the court force Frampton to contribute support — a decision that the Superior Court overturned April 30.

Jacob, who now lives in Harrisburg, said Frampton provided some financial support over the years and gradually took a greater interest in the children.

"Part of the decision came down because he was so involved with them," Jacob said Wednesday. "It wasn't that he went to the (sperm) bank and that was it. They called him Papa."

The process was very informal — Jacob was inseminated at home.

In his written opinion requiring Frampton to help pay for the child's support, Superior Court Judge John T.J. Kelly Jr. noted that Frampton spent thousands of dollars on the children, including purchases of toys and clothing.

The children knew he was their biological father, but Frampton opposed the effort to compel support from him.

"We made the argument that, according to Pennsylvania law as it stands, there can really only be two adult individuals that can be held liable for support in a child-custody case," said Frampton's lawyer, Matthew Aaron Smith.

Shultz-Jacob's lawyer, Heather Z. Reynosa, wants Frampton's support obligation to be made retroactive to when Jacob first filed for support. Frampton's Social Security survivor benefits may also help reduce Shultz-Jacob's monthly obligation.

It is unclear how the child-support guidelines, which assume two parents, will be adapted to account for three parents.

"That's what's going to be interesting, because there's not a whole lot of guidance out there," Reynosa said.

The state Supreme Court is currently considering a similar case, in which a sperm donor wants to enforce a promise made by the mother that he would not have to be involved in the child's life. That biological father was ordered to pay $1,520 in monthly support.

About two-thirds of states have adopted versions of the Uniform Parentage Act that can shield sperm donors from being forced to assume parenting responsibilities. Pennsylvania has no such law.

I just want to send my condolences to the King family. If they ever read this, my prayers are with you. This is crazy to me, because I have been reading The Autobiography of Martin Luther King Jr. over the past couple of days. I would have been finish reading it, but Dr. King was something slight of a genius, and I like to take time to digest on everything I read. He spoke a lot about Yolanda and she grew up to be an amazing woman in her own right.. She followed a path different, yet similar to her parents to fight for civil rights. So I changed the layout... it will be this one until I can make my own.. but then again I get tired of stuff real fast so neway... I got some pix of some dresses for the summer.. at affordable prices becuz Lord knows I'm broke... And these dresses are for all sizes.. Mz Coko hasn't been a size 2 since the 4th grade... real talk! lol.

Dresses are from Charlotte Russe, Torrid, Lulu's Fashion Lounge, Forever 21, Wet Seal, and Rue 21... If u wanna know which dress is from where... ask in the comments cuz i'm too lazy to organize!

Fly Tips: Whiten and Brighten!!

Ok.. so.. time for my little spill on fly tips again... Today's topic is WHITES. Now the summer is coming and after Memorial Day... everybody and they mama are gonna start rocking the white again... and there is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING worse than a damn dingy white shirt... or dingy teeth (I'm sorry... yellow teeth really irks me).. but neway... A Couple tips to keep your shirts white especially in the underarm...

1.) To prevent yellow stains from getting in your underarm... use a PAD... or sanitary napkin.. whatever you prefer to call it... now when i say a pad.. i mean somthing like a pantyliner... not a 4 inch thick maxi pad... Now I know this might be weird but.. it keeps your white shirts from turning yellow under there AND it keeps you from having those HIDEOUS wet spots in your underam... now THAT is SO UNSEXY!!

2.) So you obviously can't wear pads under your arms all the time (I really don't hope ya'll thought that) and you might end up getting the yellow on your underarm anyway... to get that out use white vinegar, or a mixture of baking soda and peroxide (this works for your TEETH also), or a mixture of peroxide and water... don't put it in the dryer either!! Heat will make the stain worse..

3.) Do not use bleach!! Bleach will make ur shirts yellower (is that a word?) because of the finish... wash your whites together... without bleach! If your shirt has been yellowed by bleach you can use Rit Color Remover

4.) Over time your ish will turn yellow... Unless you take it to the cleaners every time... so to get it un-yellow (is this a word?) use Rit White Wash or Oxiclean...

So thats how u keep it white and bright people!!

P.S. please do not walk around with yellow (supposed to be white) air force ones with them bright ass white shoe strings!!! U might as well kept them old shoe strings in...
